Workshop series · January 17 to February 21, 2027

The Karma of Money

Money moves constantly through our lives — in earning, spending, gifting, borrowing, and receiving. Yet beneath these everyday transactions lie deeper human intentions, formative experiences, and karmic threads that shape how we relate to financial life today.

This workshop explores how your money biography can reveal human connections that run far below the surface of economics. If the movement of money reflects intention, and intention can arise from past karmic experience, how might we better understand — and perhaps reconcile — this relationship?

Six Sundays on Zoom, 3–5 PM Eastern: January 17, 24 and 31, and February 7, 14 and 21, 2027

The sessions

  1. Opening conversation

What prompted you to sign up? What is your current relationship to money, and how do you navigate different types of transactions: purchasing, borrowing, receiving? We will set expectations for the series, including an overview of assignments and readings.

  2. Childhood and adolescence

Exploring your early experiences with money: family patterns, formative moments, gifting, and the emotional tone of your early financial life. Reviewing confidentiality expectations and journaling.

  3. Money and work

Your first jobs, your sense of “earning,” and the early agreements that shaped your understanding of value and exchange. Possible karmic connections.

  4. Transitions and turning points

Changing jobs, changing relationships, and the deeper forces at work behind life shifts. Preparing to share your money biography.

  5. Storytelling and writing tips

Sharing insights from journaling. Writing tips: transforming your stories into a written money biography. Continued sharing and deeper exploration of karmic considerations.

  6. Presentation and integration

Reflecting on the writing process. Sharing excerpts from money biographies and integrating insights from the series.

Each session includes a presentation by Torin on topics such as the history of money, betrayal and restitution, ethics, human relationships, and karmic threads. By the end of the series, each participant will have written a personal money biography.
